18 Weeks

I was having some cramping and some spotting type stuff so I called the Dr.'s office and they said it would be best to come in just to check on the baby and make sure everything was okay. So we went in and they looked at me and asked a few questions and thought maybe it could be a UTI or a blood clot that had dissolved and the cramping was from the coughing and sneezing I had been doing and also from wearing pants that were too tight. They checked the heartbeat with the doppler and couldn't find it!! Having had 2 miscarriages I was freaked out so they decided we should have an ultrasound to check and make sure everything was okay. When we went in the tech asked us if we wanted to know the gender. We were supposed to be finding out the next week at my 19 week appointment and we were going to be having a gender reveal party so Russell was going to find out and then tell Kennadee and I with everyone else at the party. But there was no way I could have stood Russell knowing for a week and a half before I did. So I told him that if he found out I got too also and if not then we would wait to find out until the next appt. He decided we should both find out so we sent Kennadee out of the room and told her not to listen. The tech did all her looking around and making sure everything was okay and then she got to the gender part! Now for this whole pregnancy we have felt this baby was a boy since I was not as sick as with my first and it had just all around been a better pregnancy we thought for sure boy! So when the tech said "It's a girl!" We were shocked! We even asked her if she was sure and she kept looking and said 99.9% sure! (I think she was a little offended that we doubted her) Well the tech had said it so loudly and I had also said it loudly so Kennadee ended up hearing through the door. We swore her to secrecy since we wanted to wait until the party to tell people what we were having. She did a great job keeping the secret!
The baby was so cute!! She was turned toward my placenta and snuggling it which was why they couldn't hear the heartbeat with the doppler. And she kept rubbing her face with her hand. Adorable!!
